I don't know what you all are arguing about - FI should've been a foregone conclusion in the 1950's! Its the bean-counters that have kept the R&D from developing better, more reliable FI systems for year. And now that most companies are finally embracing it (albeit because of regulations - not on their own initiative. Mostly), I - for one - think its time for us to embrace the performance and fuel economy benefits FI engines offer.

The only argument against FI that I can possibly think of in the modern world is the friggin' HPFP (go figure, BMW actually had to be the one company to mess this up). Other than that, modern FI engines are pretty much the next step that should've been taken by the engine manufacturers world-wide decades ago.

It would make sense if this was the statement:

"Little bit of a shame as I'd praised ///M in the past for sticking with normally-aspirated engines while the competition had effectively migrated to forced induction but it seems ///M has decided to follow the pack. Will be interesting to see the specs on this new engine."

IMO

Bmw has certainly marginalized themselves when we can exchange \\\m (bazarro world M symbol ) in any old sentence about another manufacturer!

AMG is reportedly dropping its 6.2 liter normally-aspirated powerplant in favor of a 5.5 liter turbocharged unit.

Thanks for the bad news Steve! I guess my 63's will be outdated in a year.
I'm waiting anxiously for the F10 M5.

Or maybe they both just went up in value, Tom! Perhaps that's the best way to look at it. I'm sure these new AMG engines will be awesome, but I'm equally sure they won't sound nearly as menacing as your two bad boys
