Rudy and poleposition are making reference to a thread over on bimmerfest how a partially opened hood has a ram air effect. Please do check it out. It will be worth your while.

I love what Audi has done to their new lineup... S5, R8, better yet... RS5 soon

I actually think the new Audi designs are some of the best in the luxury class.

New S5/A5, A4, R8, TT-S, RS6, all look amazing.

A6, A3 are the only bland Audi's.

I found a most interesting read over on MBWorld.org today. Here is the thread that some AMG owners are discussing about AMG declaring the horsepower war over. If you don't want to bother reading what the AMG owners have to say here is the direct link to the article.

All AMG has ever been about was straight line acceleration. Now that they decided that 500+ horses is enough, they're going to concentrate on other areas such as interior/exterior and handling. Well, the interior and exterior are subjective but they have a long way to go to match BMW in the handling department. Yes, I know that the CLK BS 63 is supposedly a better handling car than the new M3 but I think that's just an aberration.

I'm looking forward to the BMW TTV8 or the F10 M5 in three years.
I think AMG is being practical about the 500 ish HP. Look at Porsche Turbo, GT2, Z06. For most of the public roads and even the desolated ones, one can do a lot of excitement with 500 ish HP. AMG can work on losing the pounds without the luxury, improve the handling out of the box, and improve the styling (subjective). That' might get me into an MB AMG later (when I can comfortable afford one of course in my retirement age).

I have been seeing more and more articles about car companies reining in horsepower. GM and Ford are going the direct injection twin turbo route with V6 engines to produce V8 power. Most have speculated the CAFE mandate of fleet-wide average of 35 mpg by 2020 as the driving factor.

Exactly, this is the beginning of the end for "muscle car" HP numbers. The CAFE mandate is going to make some of these cars with high HP collector cars.

If I was a car maker, I'd make a muscle car that gives 12 mpg and a hybrid that give 58 mpg. Guess what, I'm averaging 35 mpg between the two. And if I sell more of the hybrid, no tree hunger will come after me.
