So, I'm ditching the LR3. No need to go in to depth on THAT mistake....
Mrs would like to get back into a BMW as that is what she is familiar with, but she also enjoyed the TT we had for a while, so not adverse to an Audi.
I am salivating over the prospect of an M5 Touring in the US, but that's another few vehicles away......
So the dilema is between the two choices above. I know the E60/1 very well as I drive a 545 and LOVE it! But I also admire Audi and all they have to offer.
1) Is this a simple question of driving each one and feeling which one is better?
2) Does the 3.0 litre 5 feel sluggish?
3) S-Line - worth it?
Anyone have experience with both?
Input is greatly appreciated.
Spyder (and the Mrs)
p.s. try not to hijack thread to talk about LR3....

I think it all boils down to what "package" you will buy; the car is a vital part (what?!? No kiddin') but it's also about Sales reps, service, residual value and so on.
First of all, which car do you like the most? I appreciate the italian design on the Audi A6; it's a very handsome car! It's nice to drive, but lacks the connection to the road in the way the 5er has. Also, here in Sweden the residual value for an Audi is getting closer to BMW but still not quite there.
The S-line makes the car a typical sports Audi = harsh ride but no more connection to the road than before. Some of my friends calls it "sporty"... I don't.
Engine wise, their specs are similar like twins but I though the BMW had a sligthly nicer sound and a little, little more "friskyness" (sorry for my pidgeon English here) than the Audi. But no one beats Audi when it comes to interior quality. Awesome...

Connection to the road and sound are very important.....I like the idea of two e60's in the garage as well!
I also think that the resale/residual value is key. BMW does tend to hold better than most. Good point.
The interior of the Audi is very nice though.....need to see how she'll take to idrive, I suppose as well.
The engines really are very twin-like, huh.
I'm taking home a 530xiT today for the wife to peer at. Then we'll just have to drive both and see!
Thanks for the input, narvselius. I'll let all know how we get on!
