My Ride: (USA) 645Ci, Silver Gray, Chateau, Cold Weather PKG, Premium Sound PKG, Sport PKG, Step, NAV [Std Equip in 645], HUD, Satellite (SIRIUS) Radio, Aux Input, Bluetooth enabled using iPhone 3GS w/ adapter cradle - Build date - 01/05, Baby delivered 2/24/05
I am very happy with my 2003 3.0 Audi A4 Cabrio with the CVT tranny. It is the wifes car and as such very low miles ~ 18K in 26 months. Only been to the dealer for the 10K service. No other issues. However, for a non-sport package the ride seems a bit harsh, but still a lot of fun. Fit and finish great. But I wanted a drivers car for me so even though impressed by Audi my test drives boiled down to only one solution - the 6er. Even the 545 would have been a good choice for a drivers car, but I do not need space for passengers so I let my esthetic side pick the coupe. When it arrives we will have 4 vehicles for 2 drivers in the family so I am not that worried about any off-line time at dealers for less than perfect reliability. Everybody has different factors that go into selecting cars making it all a personal choice. Thank goodness for that

I *know* 99% of the posts will say "Go BMW.", after all this is an E60 forum.

Sorry, I have only just stopped laughing that you thought Audi was French.

Dunno, it just sounded that way (audi... au is a french word, but di is italian ). Honestly I have no idea how I came to that conclusion.

Would you happen to know WHY audi doesn't offer ED? They've just lost a customer - if they offered ED then ... WOW I'd be saving money. But BMW ED vs Audi's (cheaper) price - I'd say go BMW. The price then narrows down more realistically.
530i with the options I want (basically all the major options exept Active Steering and Sport Package) comes out to be 55k.
Fully loaded A6 3.2 (Without sport package) - 50k.
7% of 55k is around 51k, + talking a little bit of money off from the dealer ... and the price gap narrows down.
I'm starting to shy away from audi a little bit. But the interior keeps bringing me back... such heavenly furnishings. But - we'll see. I haven't even driven this thing yet.
Oh and what's Ingolstadt? I presume it's just a name and not a word (at first I thought it might mean 'international' but that would sound lame.... "Germany International Auto Union"....)
