My old car (530 with 231hp) smoked the Alfa Romeo 156 GTA. It was very equal but over 220 km/h I smoked him. Dinan 530: In my old car I smoked ceveral E60 530 (231 hp) but my car has only done 1250 km so I havent pushed it that hard.

I see A6 4.2 listed @ 6.1s to 60 - I think it would generally give the 530 are very hard time... However, a 545/550i would show it a clean pair of heels...

[/quote]Car and Driver's test results were 6.4 seconds. They're the most reliable in the US in terms of testing methodology and equipment.
Also, I don't think that the 530i would have much trouble at all making it to 60 in 6.1 seconds. You can't dispute that pretty much all BMWs have historically beaten BMW's specs by more than 3/10ths of a second.
I could ramble on and on as to why it should be even lower, but I'll refrain.

Indeed - depends on how mechanically sympathetic you are...
I'm not an Audi fan but I still think the 4.2 would give the 530i are very hard time for most drivers in most situations...
But we are comparing a 4.2l engine with a 3.0l one!!!
