Check the left side of the boot behind the trim, the TCU is anchored to the suspension bulkhead, have a look and see if one is already fitted, also I have checked that TCU part no. in the ETK and can not get it to list the item, is the number correct?

if "54reg" means a 2005 model year car, then yes, that module should do it...but it is dangerously close to the cutoff (10/2004 was the first safe month, 3/04-9/04 required the programming.)

personally, I'd look for a newer TCU, but if that one is a steal than give it a try.

no, your idrive unit (M-ASK or CCC) will need programming regardless. what i'm saying is TCUs from 3/04-9/04 ALSO need programming. the dealer's programming unit should recognize the need and update the programming if needed.

there are two microphone slots up in the roof, on LHD cars the left is for the TCU and the right is for the voice recognition. I'm not sure if the RHD cars swap the mic locations. that panel just pops off from the front, pull it down and see what you have there. insert a panel prying tool between the light and the panel.

Unless your TCU number is one of the numbers listed below you will be able to activate Bluetooth as long as your car is Pre-Wired for telephone(for U.S cars atleast). You will need programming no matter what
My TCU was one of the numbers listed below, I purchased a new TCU off ebay for $135 Shipped

84 11 6 937 338
? 84 11 6 938 782
? 84 11 6 942 592

Naa i haven't took it in yet, Was going to take it in a week or so and get the Ipod interface installed
Figured I'd get the programming done for both the TCU and iPod at the same time.

I tried messing with iDrive after installing the new TCU w/ no luck.
