I can't get my 530 to see my Verizon Treo 650i. When I search for devices, it just says activate phone on the idrive screen. The Treo never even sees the BMW. I tried hacking the ROM last night using shadowmite's software, but no luck. Anyone else have a suggestion?

I wish I could help. I just got my 525i last weekend (don't know the production date but prob September) and my Cingular Treo has paired just fine. Do you have all current updates on your phone?

Though I don't really see any reference to fixes for Bluetooth car kits, I'd verify you have the latest firmware on your phone (currently 1.04 for Verizon):

http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/t...er/verizon.html

You can go into the Options menu on the Phone screen, and select Phone Info to see which version you have:

http://kb.palmone.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI....case=obj(38344)

Interestingly, the other carriers and updaters that do make specific reference to Bluetooth car kit compatibility are all 1.1x, so I don't know if this is a limitation with Verizon, intentional or not. Other members have gotten Cinglular, Sprint, and unlocked Treo 650s to pair with their E60 without issue...

I have the latest software for the phone. I think this is a verizon specific issue. Although I have heard that others have been able to pair their verizon phone with the E60. My screen just says please activate phone.

I have a September build 550i with Navigation. I am in San Diego. I have a Verizon Treo 650 with software 1.04, which I believe is the latest available from Palm/Verizon. The car and the phone pair very easily, usually loading my favorites into the car, but not always. The Treo then gets into an endless loop of resets which only stops when I remove it from the bluetooth list in the car. I have tried to pair down the number of favorites to as low as 10 or 12 with no avail. I guess that we are at the mercy of Palm/Verizon for a software fix.

I am surprised that yours pairs so easily, mine has never paired at all. It just says "Please activate phone," and it is driving me crazy! I think I am going to call verizon to see about a replacement handset. There can't be much difference between our cars as the only major difference is the engine.

IT WORKS!!! I called BMW and they helped me set it up this morning. I didn't realize that the iDrive has to be under communication settings rather than the communcation module.
