Okay, I just want some clarification from you guys before I buy a new phone. I am confined to Verizon, so it seems that the V710 is my only choice for a phone that will function well with my '05 545.
I have read many reviews of the phone that state that it has limited bluetooth functionality and may not transfer address book info to the car. But some posts here make me think that issue may have been resolved by Verizon since those reviews were published.
My question is: if I buy a new V710 from Verizon, will it pair perfectly with my car? Will it support address book transfer, etc? I would like to make sure it will work like I hope before I order the new phone.
Thanks for any info.

No worries. The v710 pairs just fine. It will automatically transfer your address book. No voice training is required either. That is somewhat detrimental. I sometimes have to repeat myself a lot to get the correct name and then other times it never gets it right. Quite embarassing when I have friends in the car and show them the voice activation and it does not work
Now, just be aware that the default bluetooth feature in the v710 is turned off. You have to manually activate bluetooth everytime you want to pair with your car. For convenience simply change the default to "on." Menu -> Settings -> Connections -> Bluetooth Link -> Setup -> Power -> On.
HTH,
Joe

I bought V710's for both my wife and I a couple of weeks ago. They paired with the car and loaded the address book without problems. I love the way the car and the phone work together. That said, I don't like the phone itself. The screen is hard to see most of the time. The button layout is okay but the center buttons are small and I have to use my fingernail to push it.
Well, I will stop my bitch session there. The phone and the car work excellent together. The phone by itself sucks! <_<

My Ride: Arrived 3 June 2005: 2005 545i - Orient Blue, Black interior, Sport, Steptronic, Cold Weather, NAV, Sirius, Logic7, Comfort Seats, Sunshades. What a glorious ride!
I'm sorry to see f6maniac does not like his v710; I love mine. Everything I have read indicates that the v710 pairs with the Bimmer bluetooth better than anything else on the market, and its "limited" Bluetooth implementation relates apparently to relatively frivolous capabilities such as downloading the newest Eminem joint to use as your ringtone, and viewing movies on the phone. For all business-related functions the phone is a champ IMO. Its speakerphone is terrific!

Verizon has now fixed the phone and it does pair perfectly. My wife has one and it sounds great paired to my car. I am now hooked on the form factor of the V3 so turning back for me.
