Are any of you able to synchronise the telephone address book, rather than that stored in the SIM?

Quick answer - no. The Bluetooth kit in the E60 will only take numbers off the SIM card. What you can do though is have a full set of new numbers (50) with voice command, stored in the cars computer, and quite separate from the SIM numbers. These numbers are also available for other phones or SIM cards that are syncronised (I think I read somewhere you can have three bluetooth pairings to the E60 kit).

It would have been nice to have a copy function from phone to car either from the address book or the phone book on the S55.

OK. My trial and error wasn't limited by my skills then.

Although.. I haven't tried what you're telling about voice commands. Would it be possible to store a voice command on the phone, and then call up the number through "voice command", without pulling the phone out of its cradle?

From what I know the car isn't originally equipped with any sort of voice command.

Unfortunately voice commands on the phone don't transfer to the car as they are not stored on the phones SIM card. The car's blue tooth kit should include a voice command button on the left side of the steering wheel. The functions are pretty good : you can record names and numbers, recall them by name, or enter a new number by dictation. There should be a booklet in the user manual for this. A tip : say numbers in groups of three to speed up input.

Let me know if your set up doesn't offer this. Also if there is a nice Norwegian lady speaking back to you !

Regards

Tim

Okay I am a little confused. I have just ordered a 04 545i (its still on order according to the owners circle site.) My understanding was that the car would not work with a Bluetooth phone. Has this issue been corrected?

Thanks

Jon

We didn't get a maual for the telephone.

As soon as I'm finished rehearsing for an oral economical exam tomorrow, I'll get out and try it out. I doubt that there is a Norwegian lady speaking back to me - unless she's sitting in the car. Even our manuals are in Danish!

And we, in Norway, oppressed by the Danes for more than 400 years, get manuals in Danish!

DrT: Can't get voice recognition to work for the phone. But then again, we didn't order it, nor had I expected it to work.
