I was worried about the dropped connections that people were talking about on the forums, but I tried it with my new chocolate phone and it worked flawlessly with our car's bluetooth. No pairing issues, no dropped connections, and the phonebook gets transferred too.

Some more spec info:
5er - 2006 e60 with CIP20
Chocolate - firmware v4 for Verizon, CDMA

Maybe the latest phone firmware fixed the connection issue?

Sounds like it, after reading the earlier posts. Wouldn't know it from Verizon's compatibility page, though:
