Check your build date (as per your last post). If it is pre 03/04 build, it's the TCU.

I have an intermittent problem with the same thing, however, when I turn off the engine everything works perfectly. Have you tried this? If this works for you, then I suspect there is a noise filter that is not making contact someplace. I have an appointment on Tuesday with the dealer to see if they can isolate this. Since it is intermittant, it is not likely a software problem - although anything can happen with these computers.

New development: All of a sudden my bluetooth on the I drive says "connecting" and won't disconnect, can't end call, can't do anything. The radio is muted and I've turned off the phone, shut off the ignition, locked the car, re-opened and it still says "connecting". I can't kill it at, even the profile can't be changed to delete it. Fortunately, I have an appt with the BMW dealer tomorrow. Anyone have this problem?

I had a problem similar to yours once but it was during start up and the connecting window stayed on for an extended period. Finally ended powering the phone off and parking the car for two hours for the computers to go to sleep. Once it awoke it was fine.
