Speaker phone on/off

Anyway to answer a phone call (while connected to car via bluetooth) with just the phone and not let it go to the speakers. I tried answering a call, pressed answer on my phone hoping that the call would not go thru my speakers, but did not work like that. Is there an option that I am missing when an incoming calls comes thru to answer on your phone and not your car. Or do I have to disconnect the BT first? Phone device is verizon blackberry 8703e. aside from that the phone sync's perfectly with the car.
