I picked up a Sony Ericsson T637 today and tried it in my MY2005 5. Production was 9/04.

The phone works fine, but the address bood in the phone is not being uploaded to the car. Is this typical for this phone. If so, I will return it. I really want a phone to work in the car.

Other forums in this site have said the T637 is fully compatable. Am I doing something wrong?

Yes I think you are just being impatient. My bad too. You pair the phone and test that it works. Excited, you go to the A-Z menu to find it blank. Then you unpair the phone and try it again. Then you receive a call. Then you make a call. Then check it again. Then you sit in the car for 5 mnutes and still no address book. Now try this.

Pair the phone to the car. Put the phone in your pocket. Pretend you never had a phone. Start up the car and go for a 20 minute drive. Do not keep checking to see if the address book has loaded. Watching the pot doesn't make the water boil faster. When you are done with your drive. Check the A-Z menu.

I can't promise that the T637 will work but if they say its compatible I bet it is. I just related to you my experience with the address book on my RAZR.

If this fails, make sure your address book is saved to the phone instead of the SIM. I do not know if this is an issue or not. Pharding posted that they need to be saved to the phone.

Another thing with the Sony Ericsson T620 and maybe in general with all phones, if you add an address in the phone, it also takes a while before it's added in the car. I've had the experience that he only recognized the new numbers only after a week. This seems to be car related and not phone related, apparently he doesn't copy the address book each time you're phone is connected.

If you copy the address book from the phone to the SIM card and come back to the car in 10 minutes it will work.

After reading these points, two things come to mind.

1. I uploading my contacts from Outlook to the phone. I have 525 contact. This would probable be one of the problems.

2. The contacts are not on my SIM chip.

I will remove some of the contact and upload them to the SIM chip and get back with you.

I thought it was the other way around. Leave them on the phone. Just go for a long drive. They will get there. You have to be patient.

Hormazd is right in that if you have a lot of contacts they will take a long time to load initially. Also, my dealer told me to copy to the SIM. As soon as I did that, all the numbers showed up.

I started deleting my contacts in the phone, but 500+ is way to much. I wish I knew this before I loaded all my contacts. I currenly have a Treo 600 and Blackberry 7290. Both phones allow easier contact search than the Sony so managing 500+ contacts is easy.

I am thinking of retruning the Sony and getting the Motorola Razr (forgive spelling please).

Is their anyone here who has sucessfully linked the Razr?

What about the Treo 650. Has anyone herd if it will be compatable with the E60?

nothing wrong with the spelling. it's the way it is. not suppose to spell "razor" .
