My Ride: BMW 530d for now, 630i Coupé in black with cream beige leather, light birch wood, automatic transmission, head-up display, navigation system professional, bluetooth as of Dec 05
Hi folks,
I have a 530d and I am using it along with my SE Z600. Works like a charme. However the phone is a bit outdated and I was planning to replace it with either a SE K750i or W800i. But in another forum I read several threats saying that because the newer SE phones support BT 2.0 the connection between the car and the phone is ocassionally dropping. Quote provided below
"The K750i / W800 has Bluetooth 2.0. And unfortunately BT 2 wants to connect using EDR - Enhanced Data Rate. Bluetooth 1.1 & 1.2 don't support EDR.
From what I understand, the K750i / W800 tries to reconnect using EDR every 15 minutes or so. This can cause the connecting device to drop the connection... "
That made me consider buying the Nokia 6230i especially since there is a craddle available. Now when I read that several of you did not have any problems with the SE K750i I am a bit unsure which one to buy. Also I am going to replace the 530d with a new 6series in December but that should not make a difference I hope. Pls. advice.

I have the k750i and have never experienced any drop outs - Yet!
Sure there is no cradle for it but that doesn't bother me because in my eyes the whole point of having the bluetooth is that I don't have to fish the phone out of my pocket or bag, I just get in the car and drive and the phone just works.

My Ride: 2004 530i (SE), Auto-Dim Int + Folding Ext. Mirrors, Automatic Gearbox, Bluetooth Telephone Preparation, BMW 6 Disc CD Changer, Heated Front Seats, HiFi Speaker System, Leather interior, Navigation System - Business, Sports Suspension, Star Spoke 123 8Jx18" + Run Flat Tyres. M-Tech Kit.
Just tested a colleague's W800i in my car, as I am also interested in this phone, and experienced no problems. Phonebook transfer was completed within a few minutes. BT connection seemed perfectly stable, although I do have to say this was a test of only around half an hour!
I suggested swapping phones overnight, but he didn't want my Moto V635!

Hi folks,
couldn't resist and bought the SE W800i in the Swisscom shop at the airport. Phonebook transfer and dialing work like a charme. Amazing phone. Now the only thing that is missing is the craddle. I will get in touch with BMW AG on Saturday and try to get some information from them. Keep you posted

Not to the BMW.
Since this is a mp3 phone, wondering if MP3 music can be play via the bluetooth ? Anyone try that so far. Cheers.
