Correction Pharding or it may just be my car but i have intergrated bluetooth and my car is a July 03 build that i brought new in October of 03 had the dealer retro fit the BTUM that they could not get working. So they replaced the TCU and viola intergrated bluetooth and limited voice commands. OH yeah the best thing is it was completly freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
Edit: i have a September 03 build 530 but everything else did follow correctly. The only trouble that they was codeing to get the idrive to recognise it after about a month (yes a month) they figured it out with numerous puma cases that all other relivant info about the car had to be placed onto a floppy and loaded into the coder rather than letting the coder install it.

Took a great deal of trial and error but my techs got the job done and i am very happy with it so far, except i wish the volume could go a little louder when on the highway with the sun roof open kinda defeats the purpose in some ways but it still rocks.

good luck

Upgrade to the CPT9000 phone kit for your car and then get the Bluetooth BTUM module.

This might be more expensive than a TCU transplant.

My Ride: 2004 545i / Orient Blue (I think) / Tan int / 116's Wheels / ... my favorite option, the HEATED steering wheel! Previous cars retired: 2006 Corvette Z51, 2002 Corvette Coupe, 2002 Mustang, 1997 Maxima, 1994 Camry, 1990 Supra None, and I mean none compare to this 545i. The 06 Corvette was faster, but not by much...

I have aftermarket option:

Parrot Bluetooth Steering wheel control adapters allow integration of the Parrot Bluetooth kits with BMW Steering wheel controls. Voice dialling, answering & ending calls & adjusting volume can all be done without taking your hands off the steering wheel.

Cost ~ $225 + parrot kit.

Actually there is a Bluetooth retrofit module for the early build E60.

There is no need to upgrade to the CPT9000. What you need to do is replace the TCU with a E60 ULF module.

Have you done this retrofit yourself or do you know anyone that has?

Many on the board have. I believe Rudy has installed the BTUM as well. You may wish to PM him if you have any questions.

Rudy installed the retrofit that ambishop is talking about, or the dealer retrofit? Cause the dealer would want several thousand whereas the one ambishop is talking about looks like it can be done for under a thousand. I have a 03/04 production 530i which means the dealer would charge an arm and a leg to install it.
