I took my car in today to find out whether bluetooth was activated in my car (04/04 build) and the dealer printed out the car history report that has all the options and he said that I can retrofit bluetooth. I do not have navigation in my car and when I saw the report it had an option 0697 that said DVD Area Code North America.
I don't know what this is and neither does my dealer, he tried to find out from the field engineer and so on, but no one knew what this is. I know my dealer is really a very nice guy (highly dumb at the same time). Does that mean that my car is pre-wired for nav??? (It however didn't have option 06UA).

Also, can I get the bluetooth retrofit just by upgrading the i-drive or is there something else that the dealer has to do (that I need to pay for).

Can't help you on the DVD/NAV question, but on the BT you'll need at least CIP V13.2 and more than likely a VO (vehicle order - also software, specific to your VIN).
