My Ride: 2005 525i M Sport. Black - Just love it !
Hi I'm a newbie, having just collected my 2005 525i M Sport 3 days ago - absolutely LOVE it
Unfortunately, it doesn't have the BMW BT phone kit and I can't afford the ?500 odd to get it fitted.
I plan to have a standard 'hard wired' kit fitted with a 'non drill' bracket. Does anyone have any advice on this, especially where abouts to mount the non drill bracket ?
Can my engineer connect to the Steering Wheel buttons and the Microphone in the roof ?
I notice on some other posts that you can operate mobile phones via the iDrive - is that only availbale with the standard BMW Blue Tooth kit ?
Do I have any alternatives ?
My phone is a Nokia 6230i
(sorry about so many q's - any advice will be appreciated)
Cheers

I got a 530d with the bluetooth kit 2 weeks ago and like you am loving the car.
In my opinion the bluetooth kit is good, but not that amazing in comparison to a traditional car kit. The main advantage is that you can leave the phone in your pocket or if you are mid conversation it switches to handsfree as soon as you start the car (kind of cool).
Aside from the above a trad car kit is much the same and prob cheaper. I would recommend looking at the brodit brackets - I have just ordered an angled centre mount for my aftermarket satnav and a lower console mount for my ipod.
I don't know where you are based, but for info this website has details of all the brodit mounts:
