Current: E39 525i - Black, Black Leather, Xenons, Through Load, Anthercite Headlining.
History: ....
My 9300 did not work so have gone back to an old 6310. This works great with all the address book displayed on iDrive screen etc. Everytime you start the car, message appears on the phone asking if you would like to connect with the BMW? simply select yes.
Tried a friend's Motorola razor. This connects without needing to do anything, so you could leave it in the briefcase and it would still work. The motorola also display signal strength on th eiDrive screen. I think I'm going to have to get the motarola.
Also tried Sony t610 - work fine. But the Sony K750i did not transfer address book.

As I remember (i now have the Nokia 6230i which works great!) you have to go to Bluetooth settings, Paired Devices, select the BMW and set "Authorisation required" (or something like that) to NO.
The phone can stay in your pocket and it automatically connects to the car.

I was at the BMW dealer the other day, and they couldn't figure out how to get my phone work with my car.
all the above Nokias, when i enable BT, it somehow could pair with the BT(BMW36431) from the car, but i just couldn't get it work from the iDrive since there is not connection. very frustrated, maybe its because of the phones i used are not capatible.

You can setup the 6310 to automatically connect without having to say Yes.

bluetooth is designed as a universsal system...so im pretty sure all nokias work,,,,and i think that most other phones should work....its really easy to connect the phone, just make sure ur in the right place in the i-drive before "searching for audio devices" using the phone...then u can connect any phone...im sure...
