Hey there,
Got a small problem here :
I paired a new nokia N72 to the my 4 months old 520d (2007). Can make calls, but no phonebook transfer...
Anyone have a solution?
Second problem : phone does not connect automatically, must make the connection manually every time.
Any ideas? I think all the setting are just fine...
greetz,
Ribo,
AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

Yes, the phone is authorised, and yes, they have paired...
That there will be no phonebook transfer, I can live with that... But I'd like to recieve calls in car without having to connect manually every time...
Anyone a solution?
Oh... and I posted in the wrong subforum. Please move.

connectivity/bluetooth. then choose "paired devices" submenu.
you should see BMW **** there, scoll (but dont click) to BMW, then
choose options and select "set as authorised".
it must work, i had zillion nokia phones and all of them
connected without any problem. 6230i transfers phone book.

I think you missed my point - you must go into :
connectivity/bluetooth. then choose "paired devices" submenu.

But in the meanwhile the problem solved itself.
Sunday I tried and tried, starting up the car, putting the N72 on and off... just no automatic connection.
And... surprise, surprise... today it just connected !
But I doubt there will be a phonebook transfer.
Anyway, thanks for the response !

On my N93 there's an option under bluetooth settings called "external sim mode" (or something like that, mine is set to Dutch).
You need to enable this to share the phonebook.
I don't know if this option is available on the N72 but the default setting is 'off' so it's worth giving it a try .

I'm in a similar situation. The car recognizes my phone but I can't make or receive calls on it. I'm using a Nokia N73

I have a Nokia N73
You can transfer the phone book by going to the nokia contacts menu and mark all contacts. you can then send them by bluetooth to the vehicle. (be sitting in the car with the ignition on after pairing.)
It worked for me
ps - it may seem like it hangs on transfer, just give it a few minutes and then ignition off and back on again and the contacts will be in the idrive.
pps - to auto connect go to your bluetooth setting on your phone, select the paired device and you should have a option called authise or 'trusted'. Selecting this will make the phone auto connect.
