I just got my bluetooth upgrade for my 2004 545i. It lets me pair my phone, it lets me call and basically does everything its supposed to do. Problem is, no one can hear me when I call them.......I can hear them, the car "rings" when someone is calling me, but my voice is not going through. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance.

check the settings on your phone, make sure it is not trying to use the microphone on the phone. not sure if this is it or not, but worth a try....

Maybe you've just gone mute - wait did you hear something? Oh, never mind it already passed

I had the same problem with the bluetooth in my old E46. If I used my 2G iPhone I could hear calls, but they couldn't hear me... I tried with a friends Blackberry and Nokia something-or-other and it worked fine.

So, it could be your phone. Try it with a different handset and see if the result is the same.

What is the production date of your 04? Check the driver's side door opening and see if it is prior to 03/04. If it is, you will need to upgrade the TCU.

Is that specifically for US cars? The TCU in my UK spec 03 works fine.

As far as I know it is a NA limitation and was included in the SIB that addresses many BT issues that has been posted here a number of times.
