My Ride: 2004 Mystic Blue 530i. Sport package, Auto, Premium package, xenon headlights. Mods to come!
I've tried looking through the forum but I couldn't quite find the answer. What does Blue tooth "enabled" mean? My Idrive has a "communication" function but I don't have a phone yet. I was going to buy one. I have verizon and was going to get the v710. Also would I need a cradle? Doesn't the blue tooth phone connect by itself? Do I have to do anything besides go through the idrive to connect it? Any one have a basic FAQ on this stuff?

Before you buy a bluetooth phone make sure your car has blue tooth ability - should be in idrive to enable it or not in the communications area.
I have the v710 and it works great. Follow the directions that come with the phone for pairing it with the car. It is not too hard - this was my first blue tooth experience.
You do not need a cradle if you use bluetooth - it is just for charging the phone. If you do not have bluetooth you can get a cradle to hard wire your phone so it is integrated with idrive. I had that when I used my v60 with Verizon on my 2004 530i.
Good luck.
