Today when I had my car in for the Aux. Input installation I told my BMW dealership about how upset I was of not having Bluetooth in my 01/04 car. After
working with them back and forth they offered me a new TCU for $700 as they would pick half of the cost and install it for free. Is this really a must have item for an additional cost? I still think that BMW should pick up the entire bill for those of us who were loyal and bought their product early on. What do you guys think?

For half the cost it might be worth it. Full price then NO. I would love to upgrade to new stuff when they become availabe on the E60 for half price... a 550 engine??

It is worth $700. I paid $600 for the first Bluetooth upgrade in the US that was just a software upgrade and programming. Bluetooth is awesome and worth every penny of it.

[/quote]I would accept the $700. Most of us have paid 2 or 3 hours of labor just for the software coding. You are paying about $400 more than post 03/04 production customers. I hope you set a precedence for Gizmo, Jimbo and the others. The word on the forum is $2000 for a new TCU.

I would do it! I paid almost $600 for them just to upgrade the software (and they replaced my TCU under warranty as they suspected it to be faulty). The bluetooth function is really incredible and you'll relly like it.
I heard that a new TCU was possibly costing almost $2,000. In that case, it is really worth it.

$700 is a fair deal (and what they should offer to everyone - IMO).
But it is a lease and they aren't adjusting the residual (most likely). So.... 50% is about right (guessing on your terms)

What's up with the new TCU discussions lately? I don't get it???
Why do people want or need a new TCU? What is a TCU? Do cars with NAV have one?
