The BTUM is intended to permit BT compatibility with the very early E60's. Essentially, it uses the cradle for the old CPT 9000 phone the only cradle that works with an 04 E60) and emits a BT signal using the docking mechanism in the cradle as the power source.
There is a very good chance that all you will require to enable BT in your car is software enablement of the function. Talk to another dealer.

My service guy is ticking me off. I fall within this 03/04 to 09/04 build date. i also have confirmed that my TCU is the part number used during this build period. The 1st time i asked for bluetooth he said i needed some hardware for 300 to 400 dollors. i asked a few months later when i went in for a broken seat control and he said i need a $700 hardware part. i asked what this part was called. he said its the "BTUM or something" corrent me if i'm wrong but isn't then BTUM the docking cradle? and doesn't the SIB state that the docking cradle can't be installed due to wiring problems? Should i go and ask another service guy or what?
