Well after seeing the price of the BMW dealer BT retrofit, I decide to get an after aftermaket BT, I decided on the parrot 3100. I when to my local stereo install and they quote me $250 to have it installed . I am electronic tecky so I decided to tackle the install myself, So here we go.

1: Check on the Radio Wiring Diagram. I have put a check mark on the Pin # that will be needed..

2 Remove radio by popping out the wood trim above the radio, loosen the 2 screws that are holding the radio and AC control face plate in place, Pop out the face plate.

3:Remove the 2 screws the are holding the radio.

4: Remove the radio to get to the back, the cable are short so becarful not to rip any cable out .

5: Remove the 16 pin Connector by pressing down on the 16 pin lever and pulling it out. ( see Radio Diagram (Key 1). and Pic labeled
16 pin connection.

6 Connect yellow mute cable to Pin #10 on the 16 pin connection. (the pin may be empty, so you have to find a way to make a connection, you can pick out some wire connecting ends at Radio shack

7 On the black socket (12 pin connector Right on the Radio Diagram). connect the Blue Line "+" to pin #2. connect Line "-" to radio ground.

8 Connect power cable as describe in the Power Connection Pic.

9 It is up to you to decide on where you want the Display and Mic mounted, I have included a couple of Idea, I first decided to put the display in the center, but later decided I wanted it at the bottom ( see Pics).

10 Cut away all unused cables and take and wrapped up everything nicely. place the blue control box and wires in the space below the radio.

11 Power up, pair your phone to make sure everything works. If all goes well, then put everything back together and you are all done.

This setup will mute your radio when you are using the BT, all sound will come thru the car speakers, and you will be able to control the BT volume from the radio volume control .

HOPE THIS HELPS. PS: Just want to give a hand to Daddys Little Helper, I am teaching her all that I know

Is the Additional Audio Input slot taken if you have the Aux Retrofit done I wonder? Yes it is I've just checked. So why didn't you use Pin 6 ?

Also are you saying that if we were listening to Aux that wouldn't get Muted if there was an incoming call? Because if the Aux does get muted I wonder how your Phone input is not getting mutted too. It doesn't make sense. I'm not saying it doesn't work, just doesn't make sense.

If this works then you've just stumbled up a way to get an Aux connection done without needing any programming. All you need to do is connect up the Aux to plug X13813 :
- WS/BL cable to PIN 7
- WS/RT cable to PIN 2
- WS/BR cable to PIN 8

And then send a Radio Mute signal (done by connection this input to Ground) to Pin 10 of the X13812 and hey presto you have an input that is completely separate to the Radio.

I dont have the AUX input so I am not able to test , I see your point but I do know that while the radio is muted there are a few input in the back that still allow a signal to come thru

Like which ones? Are you saying there are more inputs back there?

All the input are on the 12 PIN RIGHT connector, look at the Wiring diagram, once the radio is muted, you can still get a audio signal from them, and the radio volume work. Make sure you use the one with the E next to it, those are only for inputs.

I know about the E part but there are only 2 inputs there. First is the AUX input with its left and right and the other is the Voice signal input which is a mono input. I still think you should have used Pin 6 and Pin 12 for your application. But hey it works, right.

Can you tell me if you are getting sound only via 1 Left channel and if the Bass and Treble work whille on a call.
