I understand the V60v is the new phone that replaced the V60i. Can I just install it in my E6O? Will it work or do I have to take it to the dealer for some type of programming?

hi there! i looked into this and my dealer said that the v60v software is not the same as bmw's, that it would create software programming problems, his ultimate suggestion was just to wait. i currently have sprint and would like to keep my same phone number for the car, instead of signing up with a new line, etc. so i'm waiting, see what happens...btw, there might be some hope with the bluetooth thing... if you find out anything please let us know. thanks.

gonzo40, If I hear anything I will post. I also have a Sprint PCS phone already (Treo 600) and would love to use the BlueTooth option if/when it's available.

jmnieves,
I assume you've heard all the rumours about the Treo 610 and if it will have Blue Tooth or not.
I'm also on Sprint Treo 600. The latest firmware update sure makes the vision services fly, doesn't it?
If the Bluetooth upgrade comes out for the BMW, then I'll be tempted to try a card (if the newer phone doesn't have it).
I'm also tempted to buy a separte phone and just get an extra line. Have you investigated the cost of the phone?
James

jksanford,
If and when the Buletooth issue is corrected in the E60, I will buy the Bluetooth card for the Treo 600. My job has an account with SprintPCS and we all have Treo 600's. They say the Bluetooth card will work in it.

My E60 is in the shop having the CPT9000 phone kit installed. Waiting to hear when it wil be ready (hopefully today). Will update you when I have it back and have tried it out. FYI: $595.00 for Sprint PCS phone kit, $130.00 for eject box, $110.00 for 1 hour labor to install, although I know it took many hours, as the techs had not installed the kit in the E60 as yet and need asssistance from BMW. Good luck

The CPT9000 kit has the v60x phone (no color screen). It works pretty well but the phone has a cheap feel to it. Voice commands good, easy to save names to phone book through the voice menu for "dial by name" function. The only glitch is that the signal strength bars on the idrive drop to almost nothing unless you're in a very strong signal area. Otherwise, all the calls I've attempted have gone through.

I want to clarify my previous post regarding the phone and voice commands. The car will allow you top store about 50 dial by name entries in memory for easy recall. The phone also has a voice dial feature for when you're using it as a portable. This v60x is a BMW specific model, therefore extremely over priced! I did't want to wait for the BT system especially since it is unproven in the E60. So far so good.
