I have a v3x and the connection works, but it doesnt transfer the phonebook.

Is there anyway that i can fix this, or is this just the way it is with this phone ?

There is no actual V3x. Do you mean the V3c, V3i, V3m, or V3?

Yes, there is a V3x http://www.motorola.com/motoinfo/product/d...obalObjectId=95 but so far it looks like it will be a Euro model only. There won't be a US model like that until the holidays.

There is no way that Cingular would release a phone that is only UMTS. That has the same probablity as Cingular releasing a 1900 only phone now which is zero. Do they do that in Europe? No. I am guessing it will have the same specs as the Euro V3x (TriBand + UMTS) but for this side of the pond, but knowing Cingular and Moto and the Rest of the V3 lineup, I would bet that it will be Quad Band GSM and Dual Band (850/1900) UMTS.

Plus I don't know why people are so surprised at seeing this protype phone. There were rumors dating from last year that said we would get a Cingularized version of the V3x sometime this holiday season.

Here is a link to what might be close to what you are talking about:

Correct. The available version of the V3x supports UMTS on 2100MHz while here in the US the only carrier supporting UMTS (that I know of) is on 1900MHz. The phone would work fine on the US GSM networks but you miss out on it's high speed data ability. The FCC is trying to free up 2100 MHz but has yet to auction off that frequency for use by the wireless phone companies.

Don't have your model, but with a previous Motorola I found that it would only transfer the phonebook from the phone or the SIM, not both (I can't remember which one worked - the phone memory or the SIM, but I remember copying from one to the other to get it to work).

I'd be interested to know if you get this working 'cos I was about to get this phone myself.

No, he does mean the V3x; I have the same phone. It's the 3G version of the other V3 variants, albeit a little thicker in size.

My V3x (which I am sending back to Orange by the way as soon as they pick it up. Not impressed with the appalling battery life) work fine with my E61. The only annoying thing is that when it reads the phonebook it also shows email addresses (which obviously can't be dialed) unlike my SonyEricsson K750i where only valid telephone numbers were read and everything else ignored. The names also have a (W), (H), (M) suffix in the car to indicate the type of number being called (Work, Home, Mobile etc.) which was useful; the V3x has none of this.

Incidentally, it would be good to be able to use the V3x voice dialling which seems to work better than the BMW BT but via the steering wheel. Some sort of trigger being sent to the phone to initiate a voicedial would be good.
