Does anybody know if this is able to connect to the phone antenna and if so are there any problems with it.
I have read there is an external socket on the phone but that it's easily damaged.
cheers

Sad, answering my own question, but just in case it helps others.
Having trawled the forums, I have now bought one off eBay and will await confirmation of my research.
It appears that the V3i does have (or did have) a socket under a little rubber cap on the back, however most of the US posts seem to think it is/was very fragile and often broke and I think my UK model is glued in and so I don't know if the socket is there and/or disabled.
That's the phone, however the cradle is said to have some induction loop in the base that clips around the lower part of the phone where the antenna is and the manual says that this links to the Car's Antenna Fin via the armrest unit the cradle snaps in to.
Hope that helps and works when I get it!
Cheers

I don't really need an external antenna, but I did pop out the small plug on the back of my V3.
There is what looks like a socket. Damn, I need a magnifying glass to see it!

I now have my cradle and works fine. One thing though, I think its wired to the battery and not via the ignition.
I have set the V3i to not charge/power off when ignition is off but it stays on charging. OK, but my only concern is what is the drain on the battery if left for a while?
Any experience.
cheers

I never cradle it, just leave it in my shirt pocket. To charge when needed I use the cigar light socket.
