In the UK - If I buy a Motorola V3 RAZR - what functionality can I expect from my BT Car kit? Will it display SMS messages? Will it transfer phone book ?

Everything else works great.

I'm using V3 since Dec 2004. and it work great on E60 BT.

SMS are not supported by any models, except by the integrated BMW only.

I'm working, as a DIY, on a hand made construction for a V3 cradle.

If it will be functional and succesfull I will upload procedure.

If you are referring to a V3 cradle I procured all pieces but my co-worker (hand working construction specialist) and myself will be in vacation till beginning of september sorry.

The idea was to find out:
an antenna cable for V3: Done
a regulator charger from 12 volt car battery : done (easy motorola original)
any generic cradle for E60,better (cheaper) if not full working: may be done
a small plastic retainer specific for V3: Done

Only to put all pieces together with glue and some soldering.

i am using the black razor v3 the newest one with vid camera, the one releaesd in Germany, but currently using it in chi town. I have designed a sleek black cradle for it that allows the screen to be seen and its a sleek design like the phone is. I will ave pics posted once my dam camera is fixed from best buy. It looks factory.....i was thinking of sellin them on ebay....

I'm very happy with my V3 bluetooth operation in my E60. It was easy to pair, and my signal strength and battery life are excellent with no cradle. It transfers my address book very well.

I don't understand, frankly, why I would want a cradle. It's unnecessary IMO. What does it do for you? Improve signal strength? I already have full strength most of the time. I just keep my phone in my pocket.

Frankly I'm very happy with my V3 bluetooth operation in my E60 too................. in town.

But on highways, several times, signal strength is not so good, due to the distance from cells, then external antenna may improve .

Adding on , with BT always on my battery has a life of one day, without BT on two days, then charging may be useful.

Interesting. I'm getting 2 full days on a battery. I never turn bluetooth off. I spend from 30-90 minutes in my car per day. I live in Calfornia and have found very few places where I didn't get good reception (Cingular).
