All depends what you use the phone for.
Moto v710 can be used as modem for laptop
in a pinch. e815 cannot. Important to me.
v710 camera sucks e815 is much improved.
not important to me.
e815 does EV-DO(video clip extra $ service from Verizon)
v710 does not. Not important to me.
v710 will work with Moto Phone Tools software to sync
contacts, calendar, and backup and restore phonebook.
e815 will not. Important to me.
v710 is my choice. call quality on v710 is the best I ever had.

BUT: I care less about the MP3+the cam on the E815. I have a separate digit cam, i can mp3 on my car cd, and most of the places where i take my laptop I find hotspot for wireless...(My mom's place, work, and my place). So, I have no need for the modem.

There maybe something else, but my understanding is that
Motorola Phone Tools will not sync or backup/restore the e815
without doing "seem edits" which is basically hacking the phone.
You have to hack it to turn it into an e815m to get Moto phone tools to recognize it.

Not necessarily true. I was able to transfer all my contacts from Outlook to my E815 without doing any seem edits; just a cable and the Moto phone tools.

I had old information then. They must have updated the MPT to recognize the e815. Sorry.
One more piece of info:
The v710 is a Tri-mode phone, which means it does digital and analog(AMPS) connections.
The e815 is all digital.
AMPS is not really essential in most of the U.S. There are a few areas where roaming partners still operate AMPS networks but you might never travel into those areas

My is working already. I hacked last night I have full details to make the BT works between my pc and my phone. I can transfer...mp3, pictures...some claim that the modem part is working too. I need to try it. But I know I was able to enable DUN on mine.
