Cool

Hey, guys just some FYI, I took the 545i to South BMW in Miami , Fl. Had them upgrade the software in the I-drive to enable BT and paired my Samsung A707 no problems. It ran me $264.00 US( just for BT) and took 7 hrs along with an oil change. Will try to set-up voice control tonight. Let me know if you have any questions. The 545i was Biult 07/04.
Thanks

I have a question: I purchased a CPO 2004 545i build date is 5/04, Car has new TCU and v27 SW now, but no BT. What has been frustrating is hearing other 545i owners get BT and it seem so straightforward, like just turning on an option.

However, do you have a cradle for the cell in the center arm rest? If so did you purchase the bluetooth module that plugs into it?? or are you saying that there now BT connection, you have no cradle and the connection is somehow now made directly with the TCU?

Thanks for your help.

I had previously BT'ed my '01 e38 .. the phone specific cradle allows your phone to be powered (charges it) and used the roof-top antennae to be linked to the phone. However, it is not necessary to pair the phone and communicate with the BT TCU as that connection is made via the BT antennae that is installed in the console or rear shelf area.

My '07 530xi has BT and has a cradle for a Motorola 710/815. But since my current phone is a Motorola MAXX I simply keep it in my pocket and it pairs fine. I am really impressed with the voice-recognition and being able to dial by name w/o having to store each and every one of my 300 phone contacts.

Meatzorb, I'm not sure about the cradle, I have a small black compartment under the center console compartment, but I don't see any connector for a phone there. I didn't have any hardware changed they just updated the software. And I had them pair my phone before I left with the car. But I afterwards I paired my girlfriends Blackberry too. Let me know if you have any more questions. Hope this helps.

Hey meat (sorry, couldn't pass that up!), print out this PDF and bring it to your dealer. While I suppose there is some small chance you still have the wrong TCU, it is more likely the dealer is not up to speed on what it take to get BT working in your 05/04 production car...

Everyone I 've asked says they can't tell the difference, betweeen the car and the actual phone. I use it everyday.
