OK, I've just had my software updated to V31 which I was super excited about because both my iPhone and WM6 Treo would simply connect then disconnect when I tried to connect to my car via Bluetooth.

I was less excited when I discovered my original software was actually 29.1 as this update wasn't very much of an advance for me.

Anyway, whilst I was test driving an early 2006 M5 ( the one with the start button which I don't have ) I noticed the menus were different ( specifically for the phone ) and wondered if I had an older TCU and maybe even a CCC module that was the root of all my problems.

Oh I ment to mention that my Bluetooth car kit is terrible...people complain they can't hear or I sound like I'm using a really old car kit from the early nineties but I'm going off topic

Oh and why do I never get signal strength bars

I wonder if I got an newer TCU then I'd be in the same boat as loads of people who have 2005/2006 cars that have there iPhones working.

Anybody help ?

Why are my menus different than those in my manual ?

My manual shows the bottom option on the i menu to be call Communications interface but on mine (first picture about) is called Bluetooth

Why don't I get signal strength bars like everyone else ?

Could it be I have a very early TCU ?

Any one ?

Also how do I tell what my build date is as I don't have a label inside my door

Certain phones will be able to communicate this info -- my Motorola works fine, but my friend's BlackJack will not. However, my Motorola would always cut off bluetooth connection and then re-connect at every call end -- totally annoying -- I have V31 just updated 09/29.
