Good morning.
I searched and now I am more confused then ever, I know this topic has been gone over a number of time but I am not clear on what I need to do and maybe someone can explain it to me. I have a 2005 545 with NAV but no CD changer I would like to be able to hook up my Iphone for music. I have already setup the iphone for calls (bluetooth) and that works now i would like to dock the phone In the center console and be able to play music, see the song on the NAV screen and charge my Iphone at the sometime.
What do I need to buy / Setup??????
Thanks
Ted

To do exactly what you said (dock the iPhone in the center compartment etc.) you need to order a new car.
You can add the iPod retrofit kit, which attaches to the MOST port in the glove box, and then your iPhone can hang out in the glove box. That will allow you to see info from the iPhone on the CID and control it from the MFL.

the center console setup serves a completely different purpose and is no way related to playing music

My Ride: '04 530d Executive, all options except sunroof and comfort seats
ECU remapped by ZipTuning to 260+bhp.
I actually ripped out the entire phone dock in my armrest and replaced it with a Brodit Iphone holder.
I added a Dension Gateway 500 and got a long cable to go from my glovebox to my armrest.
Voila, iPhone in armrest, with music

Check this out. If you want to use your iphone for music, you can use this setup also. (Aside from the dension gateway).

The phone i ripped out has my second SIM card in it. It's built below the armrest (below the "fridge" thingy) and only functions as a SIM card holder.
By the way, the iPhone still works fully (with the Dension) when i DON'T put it in Airplane mode, except that i can't use my phone then (because of the second SIM)

Yeah, my BT still doesn't work (every other phone i try in the car works, but my iPhone just can't find the car).

Wish I could help more. shame is i have a wealth of knowledge with regards to cell phones, however, GSM is different in europe than in the states... it is more advanced. All iPhones are quad band, however, I have never even seen one with a removable sim card. I could prob help you get your BT linked up to your car, but I have no clue what is going on with your crazy sim cards in arm rests and all that. Do you know if your car holds an equipment identity like a phone would? wait, i just noticed you have a "fridge" in your car? what the hell is going on over there?
