Hi all,

I'm just wondering if it's normal or is something wrong with my car/cell... I've transferred my phone book to the car successfully, I can dial anyone from there, but when there's someone calling me, the iDrive only displays the phone number instead of the name from the phone book... Any ideas how to solve this or what's the reason of it?
Thanks a lot!

If it's any consolation, I have the same issue and have yet to figure out how to resolve it.

compare the incoming caller id to what you have stored. I don't remember the country code for belgium, but for example if you stored:

Jason 00531234567

but your mobile provider sends you:

+531234567

that would explain why it doesn't match. If you only have the local number stored:

1234567

then it should match for either incoming call.

HTH,

Felix

That's a nice theory and it might as well be true, but for me it just doesn't work... All the numbers in my cell (so in the car's address book too) are stored the way the network sends them +32xxxxxxxxxx - unfortunately no joy...
Thanks anyway!

Any other ideas?

perhaps you have an older version of progman? mine works and shows name and number just fine. Do you have another BT phone you can try it with? or can you update the firmware on your phone?

I've just updated for the last version with Nokia updater, so I have no idea what's wrong anymore. Are you using that S60 stuff constantly in the background or any speciall stuff? What version of progman are you using?
Cheers!

Does the name appear on the phone (instead of the number)?
I noticed once on my Nokia that if you have numbers twice in the phonebook, it doesn't show the name.

Yea, it does. It's kinda interesting though, 'cos I noticed that sometimes it works all right, it's just some other times when it's only the number displayed... Now I have no idea...

Can you copy your contacts to the SIM card? Maybe that will do... Had no agenda after pairing but it displays correctly now with contact copied to SIM! Good luck! (This might work and it is more simple than trips to the dealer or firware upgrade.)

I have the iphone and i have this same problem. The idrive screen will occasionally (not always) display 000-000-0000 when it's a number that's already programmed into my phonebook. It doesn't really matter i guess. I always have my phone within arms reach so I can see who it is...just kinda frustrating I guess.

i'd love to be able to see SMS messages on the screen since I exchange upwards of 50/day with friends and colleagues.
