It would make it easier to print and show the SA.

Good luck with the updates.

I have the same problem (check out my earlier threads) I have an '04 with the Professional Phone II installed. I also have the BT enabled. HOWEVER the BT is for the handset to connect to the phone. so the car acts as the main phone and the reciever is connected via bluetooth. You can get a dongle to fit in the centre console if your in the states, (assuming you have one). Its not available in the UK . I gave up.... I have a SIM card slot in my centre console. I've bought a cheap SIM card and forwarded the number. Works!! (messy though)

As recommended I think a hardware upgrade is required as well as the CIP update. The CIP update alone is around £250... so it depends on how desperate you are to needing it!.

Hope this helps (but probably won't as I havn't fixed it!!)

I have a 07/2004 E60. It has the BMW assist option. I assume I just need the CIP 13.2 update. Will the dealer charge for this update? Can I manually do the update myself with the correct cable?

Thanks Guys...

You can do it by yourself if you have the right equipment
Or you can just find independent BMW specialist that do programming as well

Well I am in charlotte... I want to do the Combox retro-fit on my 04 e60 and my bros 06 e60 wagon....

Doubt there is anyone in Charlotte, NC with the equipment or know-how.

I would love to learn how so I could help other BMW's in Charlotte and the surround area..

I assume that you mean the cradle when you make reference to the Combox.

Read the SIB I posted above. You cannot install the docking cradle in an 04.

" For E60/63/64 vehicles produced from 3/04 to 8/04, Bluetooth functionality can be added to most of these
vehicles by updating the vehicle software using CIP 13.2 or higher. "

Pretty sure my E60 with a production date 07/04 falls into that category... Has BMW assist and the Bluetooth Module (tcu) in the rear. The CIP version on my cars is 10.xxx though.

"For E46/E83/E85/E53 vehicles produced
between 3/2004 and 8/2004, are equipped with a
TCU that does not support Bluetooth. On these
vehicles the TCU can be replaced at the
customer's expense with a 2005 MY TCU.
Cradles may not be added to these vehicles
because of wiring incompatibility. "

This does NOT apply to my car...

Am I missing something? Can a consumer get their hands the latest CIP Firmware? It is an involved process to load with your own cable? Dealer will want 300 to do it... So ~100 for a cable seems like a better route. Also able to do other things with that cable...
