My 530i will be delivered in a few weeks, but I am very curious to find out if BT is functional on the car.
I went to my brother-in-law's car which was delivered just a few days ago. I tried to pair it on my phone, but it can't find anynew devices. Does that mean it has no BT on it? Or do I have to do something on the i-drive to make it detectable (if BT exists on the car?)
Thanks,

Your signature says you have a 2004. Delivery in a few weeks means 2005. Infact any post 09/04 production car is MY2005. Your 2005 car should have BT.

Depends where you are are, inthe UK bluetooth isn't standard.

Right, I would have noticed that if he had given his location. It is so difficult to help people on this board if you have no clue what car they have.

typer77 go to idrive controller and select communications this will give you the options select settings/phone and see what comes up it should say bluetooth if it does then activate i think by ticking the box.
just as a guide if you do have bluetooth, this is where the manual is unclear, to pair the phone and car you need to be in that menu in idrive and then tell your phone to find a bluetooth handsfree device. The phone will then search and should come up with "BMW*****" you will now see that your I drive screen has changed and shows an alpha numeric display and you have 30secs to input your passkey. This is any number you think of 4 to 16 digits (the easiest is 1111) punch that into your phone key pad and again into the idrive. Voala your done!!! the i drive sceen will then show you phone type and signature

hope this helps

Sweet. I think this is a very clear explanation and instruction. My car will get here in a few weeks and I will know then. Thanks again!
