Just had the software updated on my 2004 530d by the dealer
Unfortunately the BMW phone (installed since new) now just shows a message looping round "Connecting BMW530" then "Connection failed"
Under the I drive I have a new Bluetooth menu, and it shows Bluetooth enabled, but no entries or options under the Phone item
Don't want another drive back to the dealer - but the dealer couldn't fix over the phone (using my separate work mobile to speak!)
Can you help out ? Searched the site for Bluetoth Pairing but didn't immediately find anything

Have you gone back to the beginning.
Delete the pairing in your phone and start again from scratch, it should then work.
It is not unusual to have to do this after an upgrade.

What phone do you use?
Here are instructions I posted before.

Thanks for your suggestions. But not cracked it yet.
And dealer who upgraded the software and promised to phone me back (on my work handset, not car !) has failed to do so.
Lots of references to the type of phones - but I have a may 2004 530d with a (pretty crappy) BMW installed phone rather than a link to a standard mobile. What type would this be.
The BMW handset is still stuck in the loop of connection failed and can't get it to access a menu of any form to do any pairing. Ditto the i-Drive Bluetooth menu (under the central setting, not usual Cooms area) says Bluetooth enabled but no devices.
Even tried pairing to my Motorolla handset but no joy either
Bit lost with this one

Failed to get this sorted so had to drop by dealer. Initially they too were not sure - very few of these installed BMW phones apparently.
The secret (undocumented in the thick phone handbook) was to switch the phone off, then back on whilst holding down the menu button at the same time. This allowed us to access the bluetooth pairing and it was done in 60 seconds once this was cracked !
