Factory Bluetooth Handsfree
#1
May I ask how many different configs regarding Bluetooth do the E60 have nowadays? It seems very confusing that some cars need some extra parts whilst others only need a control box.
Is it correct to assume the following 3 configs for cars leaving the factory exist nowadays: i.) completely Bluetooth-less (i.e. no wiring); ii.) wiring intact but no electronics; & iii.) Bluetooth Handsfree fitted (option 644).
I'm asking cos I want to establish whether it's cheaper for me to retrofit Bluetooth Prep rather than ordering from factory, as taxes are heavy where I live (Hong Kong).
TIA

You may want to ask this question in the Hong Kong thread but I can tell you that all new since Oct 2005 E60 with US Specs have bluetooth enabled. Europeans need to order that as an extra which may be the same for HK. I would think trying to add that in later may be quite expensive but others may have more knowledge about the Bluetooth than I do. Good luck.

It is a option in South Africa so many people take it with BMW cause it is more expensive to get the after market bluetooth fitted to your car here in SA

Ok thx.
I just want to establish whether there are different levels of 'readiness' in terms of accepting Bluetooth as an aftermarket fitment, cos it seems that some cars does not have the Bluetooth module but have the required wiring & antenna already in place, whereas others does not have anything at all.
