Dear e60 Forum:

I have the new AT&T 14gb Apple iphone and it has the itunes feature, which I am so far very impressed with it, (holding 7 cd and 100 tunes with plenty room for more 12gb left after up loading to my iphone/itunes), and the way it works on my idrive bluetooth, and of course I want to take it one step further, to the next level!

QUESTION #I: I am about to take the leap to the new age BMW MP3 / Iphone adapter movement, and remove my 2004 BMW OEM Factory six disc CD Changer, (that is making noises of changing CD sounds at random when my car is shut off, which is quite annoying), and see if I can some how get my BMW Fidelity extended warranty to cover parts and installation my Mp3 player, and Ipod adapter, and loose my BMW OEM 6 disc stacker on my 2004 530i.

Has anyone don't this yet? If so how do you like it: MP3 Player and ipod adapter Vs. BMW OEM CD 6 disc Stacker/Changer?

QUESTION #II: once you download your MP3 or Ipod tunes in the ipod/Apple iphone tunes BMW Adapter in your glove box, does your 3rd party ipod have to stay connected up during the duration of play, and is now a stand alone ipod in the BMW ipod idrive system forever or until you choose to change your ipod tunes?

If not, Please share with me the concept of the BMW ipod adapter and the BMW MP3 Player and how it works on a 2004 e60's?

Thanks in advance forum!!

This doesnt make any sense to me. Reword it to and be clearer.

I think you are asking if you iphone ipod feature is better than the cd changer and can you get your warranty to cover the install and programming? Yes it is better and its possible to get bmw to cover the mp3 coding. The part you need to use the ipod though is almost $300 and that is deff not covered. Install is easy though and it takes a few mins at most.

You'll need iPod interface module ... naturally in order for the iDrive & iPod/iPhone to talk to each other they must be linked up together via that module.

You do realize the Iphone comes in 16gb and not 14gb.

Also, The ipod must be connected to play any songs, The car does not download any songs or whatever you are thinking.

The Ipod adapter acts as a port for your iphone / ipod so that you can listen to the music off the iphone / ipod into your car.

Also, the Iphone / Ipod is obviously better due to the fact you can upload songs easily and create playlists, instead of burning new CD's each time you want to listen to new music.

Get the Ipod adapter, you wont regret it.

I have the ipod connector and the iphone 3G.

The connector does not charge the iphone but will a normal ipod and you can see your tracks on the monitor display.

I heard that there is a cradle available for the iphone 3G but only for 07 cars onwards, so no good for me.

you can buy a Iphone 3G adapter for the charging. Once you have that you'll be able to charge the iphone 3g.

Thats good to hear. But what i really want is the cradle as i'm loathe d to reach over to the glove box everytime to pull the phone out.

Anyone know if there will be a cradle to fit a iPhone 3G on a 2004 car?

14GB? no such animal...

4, 8, 16, 32... see the numbering convention.... multiples of 4 gb base memory.
