I called my dealer's parts department to order the snap-in cradle and wiring necessary to connect my BT Motorola V551 to my 2004 545i (US). I told him that other owners have successfully used the adapter for the V600 and I gave him part number 84 21 0307 726 which I got from this forum. He said he discussed this with BMWNA and was told that the adapter will not work with my phone and they don't want to try to install it for me. He suggested that I wait until BMW comes out with an adapter made for the V551 which he says should happen within 2 to 3 months. He knew nothing about the wiring harness.

Please let me know if you have found a compatible adapter and wiring harness and give me the part numbers.

Thanks.

My dealer told me it fits...
The phone physically fits into the V600 holder. However, I don;t know about the pins at the bottom of the phone.
I had called Motorola about this a couple of weeks ago and they were not willing (or able...) to provide any useful information to me.

Ok folks, lets be logical.

Here is charger info from Motorolas web site indicating chargers useable for ALL v600, v500 series plus BMWs own CPT9000 (motorola v60i). So pin out for voltage is identical. The adapter in question is working for some who have all the pieces (adapter, eject box, frame) at least to the antenna. Some have reported not charging, but I think those have all been DYI. The Box and adapter itself say "for Motorola v600/v525" so I am 100% sure it is correct despite some uninformed dealers claims to the contrary. I have the adapter and will order the remaing parts tomorrow from my dealer and find out for myself.

I am one of the people who could not get my phone to charge after my DYI install on the wire harness eject box, frame and snap-in for the V710 and T610. It uses my antenna just fine. My car has been at the dealer all day yesterday and is still there this morning. They said that they were able to get the phone to charge but now can not get it to pair. It sounds like they have to code just the TCU and not the whole car. I expect to hear from them today and will post what they did then. Hopefully this weekend when I get home I can convice them to give me the SB they used to code from. If anyone knows what the dealer do to the US Spec cars to get the cradle installed please let me know. Maybe I can tell them how to do it. :-)

It sounds like you had to get three part, 1) a wire harness eject box, 2) frame, 3) snap in adaptor ...

Is this the case and does anyone no what "parts" are needed for a V551? I have order part 84 21 0 307 726 which I believe is the adaptor ...

Did you ever get the snap-in adaptor to work (cahrges phone, connects to fin) with the v551? If so, could you provide the details on the part numbers used etc...

Thanks

I am waiting for Option 644 to come in tomorrow at dealer. SA is holding my 551 Motorola snap in adapter for a fit check. Based upon those results we will take the next step. I will be travelling for a few days so I may not get a definitive answer in our out to the forum until sometime next week. Since I no longer have a lap top (was company provided until I retired) I will not be on forum until I return.

God it will be worse than the emails that stack up at current work location now, trying to play catch up on all the threads.
