Thumbs up

hello everyone,

sorry to start a bluetooth question again .

I will bring my car at friday to my SA to get a software update (16.2) and I would like to also be able to use the bluetooth function.
I did not order the car with bluetooth, so I never had this function, but I read here that every e60 since 08.2004 can support bluetooth, just through activating the software (no hardware needed).

My Questions are:
Is that true?
Will my car support bluetooth just through activating the software? Or must I pay for hardware update?

I have a 525d in Germany, the car is from 11.2004.

Please Help . . .

Thank you so much

welcome aboard, tika ! you don't need any hardware/parts. they just need to do some programming and you are good to go. if you already told them there is some problem with the idrive, they won't charge you for sw update since it's under warranty. but they might charge you for bluetooth activation. they charged me 2 hours labor for that. but one thing you have to keep in mind is not all bluetooth phones are capable. so don't be surprise if yours doesn't pair with the car.

Welcome Tika!
My 530i was delivered 11/2004 (built 10/2004) and I had BT capability upon delivery. I purchased a BT phone in March 2005 and immediately doubled the number of minutes used on my cell phone plan! I agree with Alohalc's statement on another thread, I giggle when I drive because the BT integrated phone function is so incredible!! Good luck.

The Siemens S65 is fully compatible. BMW has a cradle for this phone.

Hallo @all,
I just spoke with my SA about the activation of the BT function only through software update, he said:
he has no Idea, how he can do that, but if I know any instruction about the way to do it, he will activate it.

Does anyone know how it works, or has anyone an instruction about how my SA can do that? Please help otherwise he would not be able to activate the BT for me :'(

Thank you
