BTA 1500 w/ navigation

If I use my phone's navigation app and pair it with a BTA 1500, will I be able to hear the instructions through the speakers on the car? Correct me if I'm wrong, but my 2006 model does not have the correct format to allow a flow-through of the audio from the phone to the car speakers while on bluetooth. So is the BTA 1500 a work around?
