Hi all,

Just received my 2004 (May) e60.

It has Business navi with Bluetooth. Problem im having here is that i have now tried to connect 4 phones (Iphone 2g and 3 g, nokia n73 and nokia e50) and none appear to work.
Am i only able to connect a phone if it is in the cradle in the armrest????? If thats the case im gonna have to find a new cradle on ebay, as the nokia fit one thats in there is ancient!!

Am i missing something here? should it just connect without the cradle like it does in most other vehicles ive come accross???

thanks in advance!

Have you followed the pairing procedure because all the phones you've listed should work. The phones won't automatically connect until they are paired. The Cradle does not aid the BT at all, it just gives you charging and the aerial connection.

Hi,

ive been doing along the lines of the following - slightly different for each phone of course.
menu, connectivity, bluetooth, paired devices, search.

All phones come back with no devices found.

Meanwhile the idrive displays 'please activate phone' (or something similar)

assuming your car actually has the bluetooth (may 04 is ok in the US cars if you get a software update) then you have to go to the settings menu, scroll down to communications, then go to the bluetooth menu, and devices under that. on that screen it should show "bluetooth is pairable in this menu". THEN go find the car from your phone's pairing menu. type in whatever pairing code you want, just make sure it's the same on both the phone and the car.

hth

You are searching for paired devices but you have not yet actually paired the phone! Follow fvicente's directions and pair the phone with the car. Initially they do not just pair up automatically. Once you've done the initial pairing, the car and phone will pair automatically...

Many times when there is trouble with pairing a phone, it's best to DELETE all devices before you try pairing. This gives the BT a clean slate and usually makes pairing SIMPLE! Good Luck with it!! BTW, congrats on the new (to you) car and enjoy the forums!!
