Just bought a 525xd touring and wondered whether anyone has seen or heard of the following. The iDrive shows the BMW Online option in the communications menu but when selected (after accepting to not enter data while the car is moving) you get the message: Installed SIM card not available.

The car is equipped with all the necessary BT/Professional radio options and I have received the user ID and password (and the BMW connected drive people have confirmed to me by phone that the car is suitably equipped).

Car bought in France (not sure if that makes any difference).

Any ideas?

there is a module somewhere in the vehicle where the idrive connects to the internet via a 3G/EDGE modem module which has a sim card in it. Probably you need to get local providers sim card in order to find the correct access point for the BMW Connect. If you are still in France , then I am sure the dealer needs to activate the SIM or probably the sim card is missing or not installed.

Thanks for your response. I will check with my dealer.
