Does anyone know if cars with a production date prior to 3/07 will get new firmware available to run the iPhone (in iPod mode) in their "older" E60's?

Thanks in advance!

If you are referring to the bluetooth function of the phone part of the iPhone I have a 2006 525i (fall 2005 production) which works with the iPhone. If I have had a firmware update I am not aware of it.

Bluetooth works and most say that the glovebox MOST iPod iDrive interface works as well. Others say that the iphone screen generates an error, something to the effect of "this accesory is not compatible....." but that the ipod interface and bluetooth still work together. However i think i am going to buy a proclip and integrate through the aux input so i can text, use google maps, surf, etc., while driving safely with one hand on the wheel. If the iphone is in the glovebox, you will be limited to just the ipod and bluetooth functionality. Just using the headphone out to the aux in is giving me great results. If i am playing the ipod on the iphone and a call comes in, the music will fade and the idrive will ask if i want to accept the call. After the call, the music fades back in and picks right up where it left off. Its pretty cool.

The downside is that I have to unlock the phone every time I want to change a track.
