Can we assume (since you aren't indicating otherwise) that the previous phone worked without a problem?

i assume that it was just installed outside bmw dealers... if that is the case, you need to bring the car in to have software update and to have the phone option activated by them... remember, not Bluetooth option, but the cpt9000 setup... that way, everything should be functioning correctly....

good luck

cheers

When I got my Ipod Interface installed, the software was updated to CIP 28, I thought that would also activate everything . I guess I have to bring it in and spend more $$$.

You didn't answer my question, as to whether the CPT phone was working prior to installing the BTUM. If you want help here, you need to provide more info.

There is no CIP28, you would have gotten Progman 28. CIP ended at CIP 19.

There was no Phone previously installed, I was told by the parts department that all I needed was the BT module and cradle in order to have BT in the car. You are correct I was updated to Program 28. I am taking the car to the dealer today to see what info they can supply. If all fails I will return the parts, because I was told thats all I needed.

I'm trying to figure out how come the car then has the base for the CPT9000 phone if there was no phone.

I don't recall that cars came equipped like that.

I take it you didn't order the CPT9000 phone originally but did you install the cradle?

if you did plug everything properly in the armrest, then they have to activate the CPT9000 and must remove the Bluetooth option in the setup menu... otherwise, they will both conflict... the car would get confused with both CPT9000 and Bluetooth TCU setup in the car... it is either one or the other... if you are using BTUM, they must update the software patch for the car to recognize your CPT9000!!
