Does anyone know how much time the BMW dealer would use to install the snap-in Bluetooth adapter in an E60 that is prepared for a telephone?

The snap in adapter is a do it yourself job. There is a plastic cover in the "phone craddle" under the arm rest. I assume this is fitted by the factory to make the car look tidy when it is delivered. This cover pops out when you press the button at the front of the craddle (you may need to gently lift the rear of the plastic cover at the same time). The snap in phone holder then just fits into this holder.

Hm..

There doesn't seem to be such a possibility in our car - are some really fitted without the Bluetooth option?

In this case it might seem like it - the phone - a Siemens S55 w. Bluetooth enabled - is not detected by the car nor vice versa.

Does anyone know the exact story for the USA. My dealer is giving me nothing, except that Bluetooth is not available and I will have to order the CPT9000 (motorola V60) for close to $800.

I also went to cellular providers. One said they had a bluetooth capable phone. I told them if they could show me that it worked I would buy it on the spot. She went out to the car, activated bluetooth feature on the phone and --- NOTHING -- as paasan stated below it did not detect the car system or vice versa. Dealer is clueless on how to activate.

I did an internet inquiry and found a dealer in NJ and sent an email inquiry. Here is the answer "bluetooth is not available for your car. you would have to use the cpt 9000 phone. the phone kit is $549.00, eject box $109.95, frame $17.00 + shipping. you will also have to go to the dealer for codeing".

Including codeing I am probably looking close to the $800. Too much for a phone model that is mediocre compared to other models available

For such an awesome car I am very dissapointed and pissed at the poor job BMW has done regarding this feature. They should not have promoted it if they did not have a clue as to when it would be ready. I had an integrated phone (cost me over $1000) on my E39 530 and loved the hands free feature with steering wheel controls, auto muting, and excellent clarity. However if you want the convenience be prepared to pay and get less in the actual phone.

Thanks for letting me vent!!!!!

I LOVE MY 530I MANUAL TRANSMISSION BUT I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH PHONE OPTIONS. I HAVE REGISTERED A COMPLAINT WITH BMW. TELEPHONE NUMBER IS 1-800-831-1117. PLEASE CALL AND LET BMW KNOW YOUR FEELINGS.
