All of the sudden my bluetooth connection has stopped working. When I go to the communications screen all I see is Please Activate Phone, which I believe was the case before I got bluetoth activated. The software was updated when the car was in for service back in December. I've rebooted my phone, restarted the car obviously, I've gone through device discovery in the bluetooth menu in the phone, but nothing has worked.

Has anyone seen this before?

Happened to me once. The bluetooth just didn't want to 'see' my phone. I had to go through the initial pairing procedure several times, before it decided for no apparent reason to work fine again. Apart for that small hickup, no other problems.

Give it another go.

What kin dof phone are you using? Try dropping the connection from the handset and connecting again. If this does not work....delete the phone from the iDrive and repair. Also, check you SIM or phonebook in your phone. Make sure that entry 1 is not just a number but has a name associated with it. Also make sure that in the name that is associated with the first number in your phone book does not contain any special characters. ie. *,/,# etc. This will cause the phone to lose connectivity under certain cases.

Same happened to me once. Delete the BMW b/t profiles on BOTH the mobile phone and in iDrive. Re-discover and re-pair the devices and it should be fine after that

I can't see where to delete the BT profile on the 5 now? It just says Please Activate Phone, and gives no other option to do anything else (It just says Phone and BMW Service at the top o the screen). It almost seems like it was before i got the car re-coded with BT enabled...

Is there another screen I need to navigate to?

I've been trying to pair a new phone and I've gotten to the same point without getting the connection.

imenu --> Communication settings --> Bluetooth

then I see the car's ID in my phone, and the iDrive setting asks for a passkey, which I made up, but it seems like I'm doing something wrong, 'cause the phone doesn't give me further choices as 'Done'

and then the phone times out and says 'unable to connect'

Any know what I'm doing wrong?

(I thought maybe the phone needs a passkey, but could find no place to set one in the phone--- moto razr v3)
