HI
I have factory fitted bluetooth handsfree. the car is an 04 535d.
I can't seem to find my iphone 3g. or the car does not show up on the telephone.
Do I need to buy a newer bluetooth module to make it work ?
Any suggestions on what can be the problem ?

I have an iPhone 3G paired with my '05 530d.
ON YOUR PHONE
Bluetooth is not turned on by default with the iPhone 3G. To turn it on do the following on your iPhone:
1. Go to Settings;
2. Go to General;
3. Go to Bluetooth and select "ON". Stay on this screen;
The Bluetooth symbol should appear in the top right corner of the iPhone screen to the left of the battery capacity symbol.
In the middle of the screen it should say "Now Discoverable"
ON YOUR iDrive
1. Go to the iDrive main screen by pressing the MENU button.
2. Once in the main screen select (i) for the Settings menu.
3. Once in the Settings menu select BLUETOOTH.
4. Once in BLUETOOTH select PHONE.
5. Once in PHONE select "Pair new phone".
6. Follow the prompts.
It is a long time since I've done it but from memory you need to accept the connection on the iPhone, which is why I mentioned earlier to stay on that screen.

I just remembered that my iDrive received a software update in November 2008. I think that was to get the iPhone 3G working.
Hope that helps.
