Just got my car back from the dealer (again) and the bluetooth finally works! It's very cool. In the end, they had to replace the TCU. That did the trick.

Now I just have to figure out what phone to get (or to see if my programming skills are still up to snuff so I can write my own implementation for my smartphone . I've been borrowing a friend's T637 because the dealer wouldn't do anything without a phone on the "offical" list.

Anyway, just wanted to share my joy. This is a cool feature (for an awesome car).

Wouldn't do anything without a phone on the official list? Mine enabled Bluetooth for me with no phone since I don't know what I'm getting yet. That's weird.

Which phones are on the official list in the US?

In the UK, BMW oficially support the following:

Ericsson T39m
Motorola V525
Motorola V600
Nokia 6310
Nokia 6310i
Nokia 8910
Nokia 8910i
Siemens S55
Siemens S65
Sony Ericsson Z600
Zony Ericsson T610
Sony Ericsson T630

More details at:

Has anyone managed to get a smartphone such as the Orange SPV C500, or the iMate SP3i to pair with the E60 Bluetooth?

I was having problems with the BT. No one could hear me when I made a call. To fix this, they wanted a phone that was "blessed" by BMW to make sure that the phone was not the culprit.

I have an Audiovox SMT5600 - which is a variation of the Orange and IMate. I may attempt to write my own driver for supporting this. I love the phone and really don't want to change to make this work.

Another excellent link. Used info on this link to request adapter for my soon to be delivered 6er. Also helped him with his boss as he had same phone (Motorola v551) and did not know there was an adapter for his 530i.
