Bluetooth adapter question

OK so just got stationed back In Germany and bought a 2007 530d. This is my first e60 and been looking into adding bluetooth. Mine has the aux port in the rear of the center console. So ivee been looking at these adapters that are basically a Bluetooth card with 2 power cables to splice into switched 12v, and a plug that goes in the back of the head unit. Havent found a whole lot of support on installation for these so my question is this, rather than ripping apart the dash and splicing into the head unit/idrive power, why not/what is stopping me from popping the panel on the rear of the console, tapping power off the 12v plugs, and cutting off the plug and splicing into the aux cables directly. Little bit more splicing. But then in theory bt and aux would both be functional and no need to tap power off the idrive. Not to mention you can't really beat the ease of access at that location. Thoughts?
Option 2 would be install behind head unit, add extra wire and tap off of 12v plug under passenger dash

I'm not sure where you got your information that the board needs to be installed in the dash, but if you read through the thread cited below, the easiest installation is actually doing what you specified by installing it in the center console and tapping the cigarette lighter for power and the aux jack for audio.

Welcome to the forum, by the way. :)

I happened across that thread right after I posted my question. He is on the same track as what I was thinking.
the adapter I ordered is different than what he used. It's one of these style:

I was thinking cut the plug head off and hardwire in the same location as what he did
